"Be a good girl, I'll be back in a while..." That is what he said before leaving with his sword. The raucous night then became quiet, but that did not last long. And now, he was gone. He had left her -- for her own sake.
The light and sound will intrude their world any moment now. Violently, without regard, engulfing his world... She rose from her chair and headed toward the door, stopping at the entrance. She looked back at the grand hall. Her exquisite face clouded over for a second, then she quickly turned and opened the door. She mused over those words again. This time, her lips parted slightly into a smile

Amy hid Raphael from the soldier's who were pursuing him; she hid him only through spite to the soldiers, who ran her poverty stricken town. As Raphael had never owed his life to anyone before, he felt he must protect and repay her. He felt something he never had before for Amy, so took her in to his home and looked after her as his own daughter, to repay her for the kindness she had shown to him.
Raphael returned from a vicious battle with the wielder of Soul Edge. He collapsed before Amy’s eyes and she nursed him back to consciousness. We he came round he told her that through the battle he had become infected by the evil seed, and by handling his blood, she too was now infected. Amy had always found it hard to open her heart to the world, but now she couldn’t even try, as she was too different from everyone else. She was no longer human.
The nights were cold and serene. The moonlight was so strong it seared and appeared to give power to the darkness. Tonight, as always, she was to be enshrouded in this darkness. In the dimly lit room, she sat like a doll, motionless on the chair and staring out into the dark night. Far below, torches blazed amidst the acrimonious clanging or armour moving about. This light and sound she had experienced before.
There is no official age for Amy as it may seem hard to find a balance between the images in SC2 and SC3, and now SC4; as many think she aged from about 4 to 13 too quickly. However there may be no need for us to find this balance. The images from Soul Calibur II only show Amy helping Raphael, which could have taken place years before he actually went out looking for Soul Edge. He has to have studied his library and set up home with her, before he even began to think of leaving in pursuit of Soul Edge. Also it's hard to believe he would have left a girl of 4 or 10 alone for such a period of time. I think it would be safer to bet she was between the ages of 10-13 than any younger, than some people seem to want to claim she would be.
